Woof Woof! 8 Good Reasons to Attend Pet-A-Palooza

  • December 30, 2017

Summer is festival season, but all too often, you have to leave your pet at home. But not at Pet-a-Palooza at Victoria’s St Ann’s Academy! So grab Fido and pay a visit to the West Coast’s largest pet festival on August 12 and 13…

1. It’s totally free. In fact, you’re sure to get plenty of free swag like treats and toys for the four-legged-friend in your life. Can you even begin to imagine how happy your dog is going to be?

2. The exhibitors are first class. We’re talking about giants in the pet industry like AdventureDog, Bosleys, Grandpaw’s Treats and West Central Waterdogs, to name just a few.

3. There are free vendor stalls for worthy causes. Pet-A-Palooza donates free booths to rescue organizations, not-for-profits and charities like Broken Promises Rescue, the Victoria Humane Society and the RainCoast Dog Rescue Society.

4. There’ll be an off-leash park. It can sometimes be hard to find a safe, nice green space for your pooch to socialize with other dogs in. Thankfully, they can enjoy lots of doggy-shoulder-rubbing at the fully-fenced adventure park in St Ann’s wonderfully-shady forest area.

5. There’ll be a food truck alley for two-legged attendees. Your dog will be hooked up with tasty treats all day long, so why shouldn't you? Take a walk down Food Truck Alley and you’ll find Fresh Coast Health Bar, Greek on the Street, Hungry Rooster and Taco Revolution.

6. You can get a professional opinion. If you have any nagging questions regarding your pet’s health, Dr Shergill from Vic West Pet Hospital will be on site and dishing out excellent advice on Saturday from noon to 4pm.

7. There’ll be wiener-dog-racing. Yep, you heard right – and it’s a serious (well, sort of) business – as there are $500 worth of prizes up for grabs. Catch all the wiener-dog action on Saturday at noon. And if you are a proud wiener-dog owner, open registration kicks off at 11am.

8. The Days Inn Victoria Uptown is pet-friendly. You can run off some your dog’s energy at the off-leash park right across the street and find quality dog-sitting services just two blocks from the hotel at Club Dog Doggy Day Care. The pet policy includes a small fee of $15 per night – but it does include complimentary dog treats at the front desk. Woof!
