The Perfect Place to Celebrate Victoria Day
- March 15, 2017

This year marks the 120th anniversary of that quintessential Victoria event: Island Farms Victoria Day Parade. The parade regularly attracts over 100,000 people – and you don’t want to miss a minute of the fun - so here are five things you need to know before you hit the streets to celebrate Victoria Day on Monday, May 21…
1. It’s Free
Yes, that’s right. You won’t have to spend a single penny to see the marching bands, floats, cultural shows and festive clowns, so watching the parade is an affordable activity for the whole family.
2. It’s Central
The parade begins at Mayfair Mall and continues along Douglas Street, before finishing at the intersection of Douglas and Humboldt Street. There is fun to be found along every inch of the route.
3. Prepare for the Weather
The weather is generally mild in Victoria in May, but there is a chance of rain. If rain is forecast, take some raingear with you to the parade, as umbrellas tend to block the view for other parade-goers.
4. You Can Make Yourself at Home
If you’d like to get comfortable, take some lawn chairs and blankets along with you. The parade can last for more than two hours, so you might as well make yourself right at home!
5. It Lasts More Than One Day
There will be bands performing at the Legislature, the Inner Harbour and the Cameron Bandstand all weekend long.
You don’t want to miss a moment of the action, so book yourself in to The Days Inn Victoria Uptown for a Victoria weekend break. This property is the perfect accommodation option in Victoria, offering breathtaking views of the Gorge Waterway by day and the sparkling lights of the BC Legislature Building by night. And what could be more perfect than that on Victoria Day?
