March in Victoria, BC: From Hooleys to Hairy Heroes!

  • April 15, 2017

Are you looking for some top class entertainment this month? Then look no further than Victoria. The city has a jam-packed line-up of events planned for this month. From Irish hooleys to hairy heroes, there’s something to keep everyone happy!

Here are three great events that we’re particularly excited about…

1. First Annual Irish Whiskey Hooley
Unless you’ve spent some time on the Emerald Isle, you’re probably asking yourself: What on earth is a hooley? Well, the good news is that it’s a party; an evening of traditional music and dance. Which can only mean one thing: A good time! The city is celebrating its first annual Irish Whiskey Hooley at Yates Street Taphouse on March 11. There’ll be more than 40 whiskeys to try out (we don’t recommend that you try them all!), live music from the Cookeilidh Celtic Band and Knackers Yard, table magic tricks, a ‘whiskey school’ and prizes for the best costumes. Tickets are $55.

2. St Patrick's Family Fun Day
Celebrate the Irish spirit at Market Square on March 17 from noon until 5pm with the whole family. There’ll be live entertainment, face painting, bouncy castles and plenty of great food at this first-time event. The event is free.

3. Beauty & Beast on Ice
Hitting the ice at the Archie Browning Sports Centre on March 24 and 25, this version of the 18th century fairy tale is presented by the Racquet Club of Victoria Skating Club. Featuring 2010 Olympian Skater Vaughn Chipeur in the leading role as the Beast, it is sure to spellbind. Tickets are $15.

Whether you’re in search of a traditional Irish hooley or a hairy hero on ice, The Days Inn Victoria Uptown is the perfect accommodation option in Victoria. With its breathtaking views of the Gorge Waterway by day and the sparkling lights of the BC Legislature Building by night, the location of this friendly hotel is hard to beat.
