Celebrate Canada Day in Victoria, BC

  • February 15, 2017

Oh, Canada! Our home and native land…

Yes, we know that you don’t need much encouraging when it comes to flying the flag on Canada Day!
This year’s celebration of all things Canadian will take place on Monday July 2, as July 1 falls on a Sunday.

Are you ready? Although many of the event details are yet to be ironed out, here are a few of our ideas of how you can celebrate Canada Day in Victoria, BC…

The City will be Buzzing

When it comes to Canada Day, Victoria knows how to party! You can expect an exciting lineup of live music, parades, parties and activities throughout the Greater Victoria area. Check the Visit Victoria website for updated details as plans are finalized.

Go Red and White

Wherever you wander in Victoria on Canada Day, you can expect to see a sea of red and white – so join in and get dressed up in your finest red and white outfits. Go one step further and paint the maple leaf on your body. Or, if you’re a traditionalist, don your most stylish Canadian tuxedo: a denim jacket and jeans!

Go for a Big Gay Dog Walk!

The Victoria Pride Festival takes place from July 1 to 8. On July 2 you can join in and go for a ‘Big Gay Dog Walk’ at Dallas Road Dog Park. Expect crazy costumes, tricks and contests. The event is totally free and is open to everyone – even if you don’t have a four-legged friend. And later that evening you can participate in the Victoria Pride Sunset Boat Cruise, a three-hour cruise around the city’s gorgeous harbour.

Soak up the Atmosphere at Ship Point

The Ship Point Night Market at the city’s beautiful harbour will feature a variety of hand-made, high-quality goods as well as food vendors. It’s a great place to pick up some local Vancouver Island gems this Canada Day.

If you’re making your way to Victoria to celebrate Canada Day, The Days Inn Victoria Uptown is the perfect accommodation option. Offering breathtaking views of the Gorge Waterway by day and the sparkling lights of the BC Legislature Building by night, the hotel is a fantastic place to be on Canada’s birthday.
