With its breathtaking harbour, outstanding architecture, world-class attractions and stunning natural retreats, there are plenty of reasons to visit us here in Victoria, BC.

But now you have a new reason because Greater Victoria has been named one of the friendliest cities in the world by Conde Nast Traveler magazine.

This is the very first time that the city has hit the luxury and lifestyle travel publication’s friends list.

“To be named as one of the friendliest cities in the world by an influential travel publication like Conde Nast Traveler is truly an honour,” said Paul Nursey, president and CEO of Tourism Victoria.

“Residents of Greater Victoria should be proud visitors to our region view us as hospitable hosts, making an effort to create a warm and welcoming environment for people from all over the world.”

The magazine describes Victoria as “a stately city with a mild climate, manicured gardens, and world-class museums,” and highlights the cleanliness of the city and its polite residents.

The magazine puts Victoria side by side on the friendly list with world-class destinations such as Cork and Galway in Ireland, as well as Adelaide, Australia and San Miguel de Allende, Mexico.

This is the latest recognition of Greater Victoria as a first class destination. In October 2017, Conde Nast Traveler named Greater Victoria second in its Readers’ Choice Awards list of top 20 small cities outside the United States. In August 2017, Smart Meetings magazine named Greater Victoria as one of the top ten emerging destinations for hosting meetings and conferences.

Do you want to meet some of the friendliest people in the world? Then book yourself a break at The Days Inn Victoria Uptown. Offering breathtaking views of the Gorge Waterway by day and the sparkling lights of the BC Legislature Building by night, the hotel is a fantastic base for a social getaway in the heart of Victoria.
