One of the best things about Victoria is that if offers something for everyone. Whether your interest is the great outdoors, cultural events, or history, you’ll find that there’s plenty to keep you occupied during your visit. In this blog, we’re going to take a look at some of the historical attractions on offer for visitors. What better time to explore than in the chilly month of January?

The Trestles

There’s something about old railway lines that just capture the imagination, perhaps because you’re wondering how they made it! There are plenty of trestles located on Vancouver Island, including the historic Selkirk Trestle, which is just a couple of blocks from our hotel. It’s an excellent place to take a walk or capture some unique photographs during your trip.

For the nature lovers

On a land as beautiful as Vancouver Island, it makes sense that nature and history intersect! Just across the street from our hotel, there is a large sequoia tree that’s more than one hundred years old. Step outside of your room and admire beauty and history at the same time!

Learning history

Learn about history...by visiting a historic learning house! The Craigflower Schoolhouse stands as a monument to the early days of settlement of the region. Dating back to 1855, visitors are able to get a glimpse of what life was like back in the olden days. This is the oldest public building in BC that’s still in one piece! There’s also a farmhouse for tourists to visit, too.

Round off your day of exploring by retreating to the best hotel in Victoria. At the Days Inn Victoria Uptown Hotel, you’ll be able to fully relax and unwind in peace and style; we offer our guests comfortable bedding, a heated indoor pool, and a dry sauna, among other highlights.
